Showing off

Guffie, my latest commission made it possible to meet with Sherrie Smith. Thru her I feel fortunate to have my one person show at the Greenhorn Resort. She was a joy to work with. The beautiful indian Summer brought many visitors to the CAMPS Restaurant, where the library room was dedicated to my artwork. The day just past by like a flash talking to people who stepped by. I didn't expected this much interest in graphite drawings.
Below, Sherrie and Me

And this is Jean and Me.

Jean and her husband Bob were my angles who showed up to help me with the set up and at the end of the show, the pack up. I am so thankful to have such friends.

Artwork is done

It's been a while since my last post. I was working hard to finish a commissioned portrait. It was a great work, I really enjoyed the assignment. I am posting part of the artwork here, as it is quiet big for a pencil drawing.(11.5 inches by 23 inches)

Drawing-by definition

Definition by Wikipedia:

Drawing is a form of visual expression and is one of the major forms within the visual arts.

The word 'drawing' is used as both a verb and a noun:

* Drawing (verb) is the act of making marks on a surface so as to create an image, form or shape.
* The produced image is also called a drawing (noun). A quick, unfinished drawing may be defined as a sketch (see sketch (drawing))

Drawing is distinct from painting. The techniques of "drawing" and "painting" when confused, is generally because similar tools can perform both tasks. But the operations are distinct in that painting generally involves the layering of pigments by means of a brush onto cloth or prepared surfaces, whereas drawing is generally concerned with the marking of dark lines onto paper.

The act of drawing also suggests a process that is distinct from the traditional act of painting. The drawing process is often exploratory, with considerable emphasis on observation, problem solving and composition. In contrast, traditional painting is often a means of execution or finishing an artwork once a drawing has been completed. It is fair to note that modern painters often incorporate methods of drawing in their painting process.

Off topic

Today my dog threw up at the first time in her life. She was shaking and looking at me like I suppose to know or do something. I am not sure if she felt it's gross to throw up or she was just shocked by the fact that what goes down can come back up again.
